Fixing the Omens

Sculptural 'Assemblages' made of wood, rope, bone, china and stone. They are a response to systems that form our natural surroundings providing opportunities to address global issues through the imagination.

Through the bringing together of disparate materials that already existed in another form I am weaving an invisible thread from the ancestors of the past to the present. These 'Assemblages' are an offering to the nature of things, auspicious omens operating beyond our structures of awareness; interlocking objects that connect the past to the present, movement with transition, softness and hardness.

Spheres: A Path of Many Windings

Layers of recycled fabrics around a dense space at the centre formed of stones or fragments. This starting core becomes a catalyst to the finished object as it emanates its own specific vibration which sometimes consists of a symbolic word, or perhaps the sound of a bell, or natural products like seeds, rice, or earth.

They are evocative objects that stimulate an on-going and organic process where the inner core shifts to the outer space through winding, eventually becoming the skin, the peel, or the substance of protection wrapped around the inner feeling.
